About ipipi.com
What is ipipi?
ipipi is an international SMS text message service that
lets you send and receive SMS from a computer or mobile
phone. It's a reliable, quick, and affordable SMS service.
ipipi.com comes with great features such as:
What
countries can I send to with ipipi?
You can send and receive SMS text messages to every
country on the planet, from China to the United States
to Germany. See if the network you want to reach is on our
list by checking our available
SMS networks - if you see one missing, let
us know! A complete list of country codes is available
here.
How

Over 99% of SMS messages sent using our service arrive at
the correct destination, most within a minute. But don't
trust our word, visit our testimonials
page and read what our customers have to say. If you
ever have a question or comment that needs attention, contact
us: we try to answer 90% of questions within four hours.
Getting Started
Can I try the
service before I buy credits?
Of course! Join
ipipi and we'll give you a few free credits to get you
started. Please note, these free evaluation credits are
available to most, but not all global networks.
After you try the service and see how great it is, simply
purchase some credits
and keep on texting. Otherwise, you can delete your account,
no questions asked.
How do I set up an account?
Go to our Sign-up
page, complete the form, and then follow the instructions.
Or, visit our registration
help page for detailed information.
What's
my user name and password? If you have trouble logging in, make sure
you typed your user name and password correctly, using the
same UPPER and lower case letters.
If that didn't work, go to www.ipipi.com and click on the
"Forgot?"
link, enter in your email address (the one
you registered with), and your user name and new password
will be emailed to you.
What's a confirmation
code? Why do I need it?
We need to make sure that the proper
email addresses and cell phone numbers are registered in
our system. Otherwise, we can't guarantee your messages
will be sent and received properly. To do this, we need
to confirm that the email addresses and cell phone numbers
you type in are correct.
When you submit your email address or your mobile phone
number, we send you a message with a confirmation code.
If you receive the message and enter the confirmation number
into the ipipi.com system, we know that your device is correct.
I never
received a confirmation code. Why not?
Did you type your email address correctly?
Try re-entering your email address or using a different
email address to receive the confirmation code. If you have
a Hotmail, Yahoo, or AOL email address, messages to these
providers often get lost or end up in SPAM folders. Please
ensure that you enter email domain ipipi.com to your webmail's
"witelist". Learn more about confirming
your account with our tutorial.
I never received a confirmation code on my
cell phone. Why not?Possible reasons:
- You entered an incorrect number so the confirmation
code went to someone else.
- You entered the number in an incorrect format. Visit
our guide to international
telephone country codes for help.
- Your wireless provider may not be one of our available
networks.
- Make sure that you have a positive SMS balance - purchase
credits if your balance is zero.
- Sometimes, the message can get lost. Try resending the
confirmation code by logging in, clicking on Registered
Devices, going to the "bell" icon and sending
it again.
Payment and Account Basics
How much does ipipi cost? Please see our current
price list. One credit equals one SMS transaction -
one message, sent or received. The more you buy, the cheaper
it is.
How do I purchase messages?
You can buy credits when you're logged
into your account by clicking on the "purchase credits"
link. Visit our payment
tutorial for more information.
Purchasing credits makes you a prepaid user, open to more
of ipipi's great features and allowing you to send and receive
messages to anywhere in our coverage
so long as you have a positive account balance.

MasterCard, US Money Order, and personal or corporate cheque.
Keep in mind:
- If you pay with a credit
card or PayPal, we'll add SMS credits to
your account immediately
- If you pay by cheque, we need to wait 5-6 business

- A US$ money order (using a service like Western
Union) can be sent to:
Upside Wireless Inc.

I purchased
credits, but I cannot send SMS. Why?

log out and log back in. This is a one
time only requirement for your first payment.
Do you have a
refund policy?
Yes. We have a "30-day-no-question-asked"

Is
there a limit to the size of message that counts as one
credit?Yes, a regular SMS message is up to 160
characters (including spaces and punctuation marks).
Unicode messages are limited to 70 characters.
This is a technical limitation of the GSM standard, determined
by the industry. Please note, your messages are prepended,
by default with your first initial and last name - you may
change this to an alternate/shorter string on your SMS
Settings screen.
I
sent an SMS to one number but I was charged two credits.
Why? Currently, we charge one credit per SMS transaction.
A single SMS message can require multiple transactions to
send through our system depending on the size of the message,
and whether the message is sent from Web to mobile, mobile
to mobile, and whether you use forwarding rules or reply
confirmations. Please refer to the following when sending
an SMS message.
If you send from your ipipi.com account (our Web interface)
to a mobile phone or to another ipipi.com account it costs
one credit.
If you send from your registered mobile phone to any other
mobile phone it costs two credits (one credit to send to
our system, plus one more credit to relay the message to
the terminating mobile phone).
If your message exceeds 160 characters, ipipi.com will
break up your message into two (or more) messages to make
sure your entire message gets sent. If you want to change
this, click on the SMS
Settings link when you login to your account.
If you have set up a Forwarding Rule on your account,
each forward counts as one SMS transaction and costs one
additional SMS credit. Go here
to learn more about Forwarding Rules.
If you have indicated that you wish to receive confirmation
of successful delivery of your SMS, this also counts as
one SMS transaction and costs one additional SMS credit.
Go to your SMS
Settings page to change this.
I
have just sent an SMS but my account balance does not reflect
any charges. Why?
After you sent an SMS, the message will be placed in a queue
for sending. Your credits will not be deducted until your
message is sent out from our server successfully. This is
due to the fact that it sometimes takes time for our service
to negotiate with remote network.
Sending and Receiving SMS Text Messages
What are your gateway numbers? What's a country
code? A full explanation and a complete list of our
gateway numbers are available here.
A country code is the unique identifier for each country.
A complete list of country codes is available here.
How do I send an international
SMS from my mobile phone?
Sending SMS from your mobile phone is easy with ipipi. You
can send international SMS even if your wireless provider
does not allow it. Simply follow the instructions
we lay out here, and you can start sending SMS to any
mobile on the Planet. Please note, sending SMS
from your phone will require an additional transaction and
credit.
I
can send SMS to my friends, but my friends can't reply to
me. Why not?
Generally, ipipi supports two-way SMS messaging -- your
friends should be able to reply to you. In some cases, a
direct reply
is not possible. Read here
for more information. The best solution
is to have your friends
send you SMS from one of our gateways. If you
have tried this without luck, please try an alternate gateway
number. This usually fixes the problem.
I
sent an SMS message, but my friend never received it. We are dedicated to providing you with fast and
reliable international SMS service - over 99.5% of messages
arrive, and most within a minute. However, on some occasions,
problems do occur. In general, the SMS protocol cannot guarantee
delivery, but in other cases there may be more specific
problems. Why is this?
- Our partner in the country you're trying to reach may
be having temporary service problems
- We may be having temporary service problems
- Some messages can get "lost" - try resending
the message
- Make sure your messages are in the correct
international format (don't forget the country
code, or they will go to the wrong person!)
How can I receive service
updates? If you are ever think there is a service
problem in the country you're trying to reach, go
to the ipipi blog and check. All our service
news will be on both the home
page and the service
updates page. Looking there first may give you the
answer you are seeking. If not, check our help
pages for questions on common problems or contact
us if you think your problem needs attention. We rely
on your feedback to tell us when there are problems
- the sooner we know of the issue, the sooner we can alert
our partners to fix the problem.
Do I need to add + (plus sign) before SMS
number? The "+" sign is optional on the Compose
SMS page. For example, both 16463332222
and +16463332222 are valid. When sending
from your phone, some operators will require
the "+" sign in front of the number.
Can
I send SMS in different languages like Chinese or Korean
(unicode)?Yes, ipipi.com supports the unicode standard.
However, keep in mind that:
- The phone you're sending an SMS to must be able to read
unicode
- When you send an SMS message in unicode, your message
can be a maximum of 70 characters.
If you go over 70 characters, your message will be split
into two (or more) SMS messages.
The message
I sent does not exceed the maximum characters per message
(as shown in Compose SMS page), but the message was still
split into two messages when sending. Why?
Some browsers do not calculate the "CR(carriage return)
- LF (Line Feed)" characters correctly. To avoid this
problem, type your message without hitting “Enter”.
If you do, keep in mind that each “Enter” you
pressed will be counted as two characters.
